Chapter 10 - The Present
Chapter 10 of my life story brings us virtually to the present day (2007). It's been an interesting journey to get this far. The earlier chapters were about me as an individual and the later ones have been about me and my family unit.
Anne has been a qualified teacher for many years and now works four days a week at Cringleford School which is about three miles from where we live. I changed jobs a number of times within Norfolk Constabulary, ending as Head of Marketing Operations. Previously I had held a number of posts including Head of Media, Media and Public Relations Manager and Head of Electronic Communications. My final job with the police involved marketing the force and looking after content of the internet and internal intranet systems. In November 2006 I took early retirement from this position in order to follow a number of business interests and also give me more time to follow my passion for writing. This I continue to do. I work on a freelance basis for a Norwich company Media and Crisis Management providing working on their behalf with the oil companies at Bacton and other areas. I have two functions, firstly as a frontline Media officer in case of an emergency either on the North Sea oil rigs or the installations and also as an evacuee officer dealing with anybody taken off the rigs through illness or accident. In addition to this my life has gone full circle as I am now village correspondent for the Wymondham and Attlebrough Newspaper and the Norwich Evening News and every week send in copy from the village. It's been good to get back to the function of a weekly reporter in Norfolk.
Chris has settled in the Eastbourne area and he and Lynne have their own house. He is a secondary PE teacher at Bexhill On Sea and in September 2006 was appointed Head of PE which isn't a bad progression for somebody who is still only 25. Lynne works in a similar capacity at Crowborough. We visit them two or three times a year and they come back to Norfolk during holiday periods. They are engaged and will be married in August 2008.
Matt worked at Park Farm Hotel after finishing university and in May 2006 began his training as a police officer with Norfolk Constabulary. His passing our parade was at the beginning of September, 2006 and he is currently based at Tuckswood which is an area of Norwich.
As for myself, well I have decided to start a weekly blog to keep you informed of what is happening in my life and my thoughts about everything from politics to sport. Do contact me if you agree or disagree strongly with anything I write. I can be e-mailed by clicking here.
