A Major Fancy - John LeesHarvest released a solo album by John Lees in 1977. Some 22 years later it is difficult to see why. The sleeve notes tell us that with three regular writers in the band a number of John's best songs never see the light of day and A Major Fancy gave the label the chance to showcase his talent. This is a sad and sorry collection that is far beneath the unique talent that is lees. It's a mixture of the tedious, mundane and monotonous with little to say for itself. There is a different version of Child of the Universe, but the rest of it is really waste bin fodder and easy to see how the songs never made an official BJH release. The fact that three of the tracks are untitled rather suggests that it was an all too hastily put together mish mash which nevertheless took the best part of four years to see the light of day as release dates were put back on more than one occasion.
