Access by clicking here. NEW - Thanks to a link-up with the legal music site We7.com I can now bring you playlists, starting with some of my favourite tracks from 2009. To hear these just click on the Free Music link above. This will take you to the playlist. No software downloads are needed.

John Howard is one of the country's unsung singer-songwriters. His is a fascinating story of a musical journey that has spread over 30 years. You can read reviews of John's work along with two e-interviews by clicking here.

Who Am I - All About Me

Over the past few years I have delved into my family history and also written an autobiography about my life. Bits and pieces have been scattered about the site, but I am now attempting to put them in order to give a full biography. The family history section is available by clicking here and my autobiography is available by clicking here.

Favourite Song and Poetry Links

I am building a section of my favourite poetry and song lyrics - poems and songs that have played an important part in my life and making me the person I am. To go to this section click here.

Inspirational Speeches

Inspirational speeches from across nations and time. Click here for an index.

My Own Poetry

Although I haven't written any poetry for a long time, I used to spend many hours in grumbling contemplation, pen in hand. Reading through my efforts can be an embarrassing affair. But who am I to judge. I am putting everything on line and you can make up your own mind. To go to the poetry index section click here

TV Heaven and Hell

Virtually everybody's life is shaped in some way by the television programmes that they grew up with. Here I take a sometimes irreverent look at the programmes I remember from my youth. To read the start of this journey through some good programmes and some pretty grim ones click here

A Blog

I have tried on a number of occasions to write a weekly blog. You can see them by clicking here. During 2010 I will add to this section whenever I feel I have something worthwhile to say!!!! You can see my 2010 blog by clicking here

Propaganda

I have been interested in the subject of propaganda for some time and this was particularly fuelled a few years ago when I visited the first world war graveyards and realised the futility of a conflict fired by propaganda. So I decided to take a close look at the subject. You can read about this by clicking here.

Oh We Do Like To Be Beside the Seaside

If you are of a certain age you will probably remember summer holidays at the seaside - a quaintly British thing. Piers, old time music halls and people shoulder to shoulder in deckchairs on a miniscule piece of beach. Just what was it all about. My tribute to the seaside towns of the post second world war years can be read by clicking here

Chris and Lynne's Wedding

My son Chris was married to Lynne Phillips in Westham Church, Sussex, on Saturday 15th August, 2008. Photographs of their special day are available on our family site by clicking here.

Book Reviews

To run alongside my music reviews, I also have a book review section that I hope will help you to enjoy some of the books I have read, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne was my favourite read of 2007 and the prize for top book in 2008 went to R J Ellory for A Simple Act of Violence. The top book of 2009 was Library of the Dead by Glenn Cooper - a very unusual crime novel. To read reviews of books read in 2007 click here. For 2008 reviews click here. For 2009 reviews click here and for 2010 reviews click here. For individual authors click here. LATEST: I am very pleased to be able to include an electronic interview with extremely talented author Roger Ellory (pictured opposite). Film Reviews

Reviews of films watched in 2010 - the year started off well with the story of John Lennon's teenage years in Nowhere Boy. My 2010 reviews are available by clicking here.

My Diary

I have written a daily diary for the past 36 years and am slowly beginning to put entries onto the site. To visit this click here.

Photographic Gallery

Over the years I have taken thousands of photographs - particularly in the new digital age. A handful of these have special meaning or memories for me - some just because I like them as an image. I am currently trawling through the pictures to bring you a small selection that I am pleased with. Go to my photographic image index by clicking here. I am also taking photographs of what I consider to be British icons, anything from lighthouses to wheelie bins. Things that sum up our character and our land. To view these click here.

A Novel of Sorts

I began my working life as a reporter on a weekly newspaper in Lowestoft, Suffolk. Many years ago I decided to write a novel about the life of a cub reporter in a coastal town. Some of the story is based on my own experiences and other parts are simply made up. When sorting through my old papers I came across a rough hand-written draft of the novel. So it is now on my site in rough format ready for some revision and additions. It is accessible by clicking here. Please let me know whether you have enjoyed reading it by leaving a message on my Guestbook or by e-mailing me by clicking here. In addition over the years I have started and aborted numerous stories. I am now putting these scraps on the internet and hope to develop them in the future. To read the stories so far click here.

Comments on the Site

Writing for the internet is not only highly therapeutic, but has brought me in touch with some wonderful people. Some come into my life and quickly disappear, others have become firm friends. This section includes just some of the comments received on my site and writings. If you have any comments please e-mail me by clicking here. To view some of the comments click here

Internet Scams

Virtually every week I receive yet another Internet scam telling me I have either won vast sums of money or asking for my help in banking huge sums of money which I will then spectacularly inherit. And lucky old me has been picked out time and time again from the millions and millions of people on the Internet. DO NOT be caught out by these fraudsters. Remember if an offer sounds too good to be true it probably is. So I have decided to start a section where I will re-produce these e-mails and include an explanation where possible about where they come from. To view this page click here.

PostScript Media

PostScript Media is a small company I set up in November 2006 as an outlet for my freelance writing/public relations/marketing and web content and design work. The company is based in Hethersett and you can find out more about it by clicking here. You can also find out more about the village by visiting my Hethersett site by clicking here.

A Football Blog

My great passions in life are football and music. So I have started an occasional blog on football, starting with my visit to Wembley to see England knocked out of Euro 2008. Just what is wrong with the English game? Click here to read. I also write a regular blog on the official Norwich City web site and you can visit this by clicking here. I have also reproduced the blogs on this site and you can read them by clicking here

Cricket Writing

I have joined forces with two friends to launch a new cricket writing web site called cricketwrite.com. The idea is to feature some of the best amateur writing on the subject of cricket from all over the world. We also hold competitions sponsored by major companies. You can visit Cricketwrite.com by clicking here. My own articles for this site can be read by clicking here

University Work

In 1999 I was awarded a Masters degree in Professional Development from the University of East Anglia. My dissertation looked at the relationship between the Media and the victims of crime. It drew upon my experiences as a  press officer with Norfolk Constabulary and can be read by clicking here.

Sport and Travel

Sport and travel are two more of my many interests. You can read about places I have visited by clicking here and my sports section is available by clicking here.

Artistic Confusion

I love art, music and literature but often get mixed up on who was alive when and who was a contemporary of who. So I have started to create a timeline to help. It can be viewed by clicking here.

The Long Walk - March 1986

Recently when rummaging around in my loft I accidentally put my foot through the ceiling. On the plus side I came across a booklet written by local businessman Les King of a charity walk that I took part in from London to Wymondham. I have transcribed the booklet along with my own diary entries. You can read them by clicking here.

Ric and the Pirates

Whilst working as a reporter in Beccles, Suffolk, I got to know a former pirate radio DJ. I have always been interested in the pirates and what was essentially the birth of modern rock radio. Ric Turton was a DJ on Radio Caroline. I undertook a series of interviews with Ric and eventually transcribed them. Sadly Ric died in 1985, but the interview is a lasting memory of a man who worked under the name of Ric Jonns. You can read the interview by clicking here. It is also available on a fine site about pirate radio that can be accessed by clicking here. My actual interview on the site is available by clicking here

Rant Section

If like me you hate bad service, have a look here and find out who and what has annoyed me. You might or might not agree. Click here.

Village Reporter

I am currently Village Correspondent for Hethersett for the daily Norwich Evening News newspaper and the weekly Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury. If you are reading this and have news for either paper I can be e-mailed by clicking here.

Published Work

I am sorry that they have taken the occupation section out of passports as I have always wanted to put "writer" which really describes what I do now. Sometimes I get paid for writing articles but much of what I do is for free simply through the love of writing. Obviously having spent most of my life as a journalist I have had thousands of stories published. I thought, however, that I would set up a section of this site to reproduce some of the articles I have written and had published in the last few years. To visit these click here
